Atlantic Dental Associates offers a variety of dental services: wisdom tooth extraction, root canal procedures, periodontal surgery (surgery related to the gums),tooth replacement with implants. We also offer cosmetic procedures such as whitening, bonding, placement of veneers, crowns and tooth colored restorations. We utilize IV sedation and/or oral sedation for our patients upon request.

Q: What are Dr. Palmer’s credentials?

Dr. Palmer holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and an Associate Fellow degree from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. She has been in private practice since 1982 and is on the surgical staff of Roper and St. Francis Hospitals.

Q: With which professional organizations is Dr. Palmer associated?

Dr. Palmer is on the professional surgical staff of Roper Hospital and St. Francis Bon Secours Hospital and has a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Charleston Dental Society, the Grand Strand Dental Society. She is also an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and currently holds the position of Secretary of the Southern District.

Q: How does Dr. Palmer use technology in her practice?

Our state of the art office is completely computerized. We record all of our dignostic information on computer. We use an introral camera to show patients the current state of their dental health. We can also image our patients and plan their implants, bone grafting, surgical procedures on the computer before we operate.

Q: What type of pain management does Dr. Palmer employ?

Dr. Palmer is certified in and uses intravenous sedation and/or oral sedation for any and all high anxiety patients. It is possible for the patients to remember nothing about their dental visit,

Q: What kind of training does Dr. Palmer’s STAFF receive?

The staff at Atlantic Dental Associates is trained in basic life support (CPR), nitrous oxide monitoring, infection control and aseptic technique. They are also highly trained in patient care and customer service

Dr. Palmer’s commitment and concern for her patients truly sets her apart. She treats all of her patients with the highest quality care, and considers each and every one a friend. In addition, due to her extensive training, she rarely has to refer patients to outside specialists, as she is able to handle a wide variety of dental concerns, including implants and periodontics.

Q: What should a new patient expect during his/her first visit?

On a patient’s first visit, he or she will meet the staff and spend about an hour with Dr. Palmer. During this time, the patient will be given a thorough examination, as well as a chance to discuss concerns and ask questions. The staff takes any necessary X-rays and Dr. Palmer recommends treatment. The patient will also be shown an educational DVD.

We are a fee for service practice. As a courtesy we will submit your claim to your insurance company and they will reimburse you.
