Children's Dentistry

We are happy to provide care for the entire family at Atlantic Dental Associates, including children. As proud parents of three, we recognize the importance of early dental care. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children have an "established dental home" by the age of one. A child should be seen as well when their teeth begin to come in.

Finding out your child's teeth are coming in may begin as a "sick visit" to your pediatricians office. Many parents mistake erupting teeth for a cold or flu because the symptoms can be very similar. Fever, loss of appetite, fussiness/irritability, runny or stuffy nose, coughing, and sneezing are all common signs of tooth eruption. However, if you are not completely sure that your child is only teething, we recommend that you take your child to the pediatrician for an evaluation as soon as possible. If you do not have a pediatrician, please contact us, so that we can provide you with some contact information for a pediatrician near you.

We believe the sooner a child begins seeing a dental professional, the better. This can help to identify issues that may be very minor if addressed early on.
